Introduction

Award points when a customer subscribes to your email newsletter. A direct way to convert anonymous browsers into a marketable list.

What problem this solves

Free shipping and 10%-off popups have lost their punch. A points-based opt-in incentive feels like ongoing value rather than a one-shot discount.

When to use

  • You’re growing an email list.
  • You want to convert email captures into loyalty members from day one.
  • You’re running Klaviyo, Omnisend, Shopify Email or similar.

Overview

  • One-time reward when a customer opts in.
  • Triggered by Shopify customer email-marketing-consent or via integration with your ESP.
  • Optional expiry on awarded points.

Before you start

Yuko app is installed on your Shopify store — see Install Yuko on Shopify.
The Yuko Theme App Embed is enabled in your active theme.
Your loyalty program is enabled at Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Settings.
Points label and currency are configured.

Setup guide

Open the campaign

In your Shopify admin, go to Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Ways to Earn → Subscribe to Newsletter.

Set details and points

Enter campaign name and points value (e.g., 30).

Save & activate

Toggle Active and click Save.

How it works

  • Yuko detects email-marketing-consent on the Shopify customer record.
  • Points are credited once per customer.
  • If the customer unsubscribes, the points stay; they don’t reverse.

Decision guidance

  • Calibrate the bonus so it doesn’t outweigh other one-time campaigns.
  • Surface the bonus on your popup or signup form — customers need to know it exists.

Limitations

  • Customers who were already opted in before installing Yuko don’t earn historically.
  • Re-subscribing after unsubscribing doesn’t re-earn.

Examples

  • 30 points for newsletter subscription, paired with a popup that says “Join our list. Get 30 points.”

Mention the points reward in your popup copy. Conversion lifts noticeably.
