Overview

A one-time campaign is a single, targeted points award to a group of customers. Pick the audience, set the points, decide when it runs, and Yuko awards every matched customer once. Where a Way to Earn rewards every qualifying action, and a Booster Campaign multiplies or adds to those rewards over a period, a one-time campaign is the loyalty version of an email blast: a one-shot event with a clear start, a clear end and a measurable audience. One-time Campaigns are available on select plans.

Why you need them

Boosters and Ways to Earn are structural: they change the rules of your program. One-time campaigns are tactical: they let you act right now.
  • “We just launched and every balance is 0. Let’s give everyone 200 points so day-one activity happens.”
  • “A batch of orders shipped late. Let’s give those customers 300 points to smooth things over.”
  • “Black Friday morning. Everyone opens their inbox to find fresh points already on their account.”
A coupon could do the same job, but every recipient has to remember and apply it. A points award lands directly on the customer’s balance, where your loyalty program already shows them how to spend it.

When to use them

  • You need a targeted goodwill gesture (apology, thank-you, VIP recognition).
  • You want to seed balances at program launch so customers have something to spend on day one.
  • You want a scheduled push tied to a moment (BFCM, an anniversary, a product launch).
  • You want to reward a defined group (contest winners, beta testers, early adopters) that you’ve tagged in Shopify.
  • You want to reward a Shopify segment you’ve already built for email or ads.
If you need a rule that keeps rewarding, use a Way to Earn. If you need a multiplier or bonus over a period, use a Booster Campaign. One-time campaigns award once per matched customer and then close.

Before you start

Yuko app is installed on your Shopify store — see Install Yuko on Shopify.
The Yuko Theme App Embed is enabled in your active theme — see Theme App Embed.
Your loyalty program is enabled under Loyalty Program Status at Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Programs.
Your point labels are set in Loyalty Settings.
You’ve chosen the audience: a Shopify segment, one or more customer tags, or all customers.
You’ve chosen how many points each customer gets.
You’ve decided whether the points should expire (recommended for goodwill and launch awards).

How to configure a one-time campaign

1

Create the campaign

Go to Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Programs, scroll to One-time Campaigns and click Create campaign.
2

Name it and set the points

  • Campaign Name — internal, not shown to customers. Pick something you’ll recognise later (for example bfcm-2026-all-200pts, not Test 1).
  • Points amount — the flat amount every matched customer gets, from 1 to 10,000,000.
3

Pick the Target audience

  • Shopify Segment (default) — type to search, or click Browse to pick from your Shopify customer segments.
  • Customer Tags — pick one or more Shopify customer tags. Customers matching ANY selected tag are awarded.
  • All Customers — every customer in Yuko.
4

Set the Scheduling

Tick Run immediately, or set a Send date and Send time for a scheduled run.
5

Set the Expiry (optional)

Turn on Expiry, then set Expires after (1 to 3,650) and a Period of Days, Weeks or Months. The awarded points expire that long after they’re awarded.
6

Trigger workflow events (optional)

Under Workflow events, tick Trigger workflow events to fire the One-time Campaign Points Awarded event for each customer who receives points. Any matching workflow can then send WhatsApp or email messages. See Workflow events and identifiers.
7

Preview the audience

In Estimated reach, click Preview audience. Yuko shows how many customers match and the total points you’re about to award. Nothing is awarded yet.
8

Save

Click Save. A campaign set to Run immediately starts right away; otherwise it shows as Scheduled until its send time.
The form checks your input before saving. For example: Campaign name is required, Segment is required, Select at least one tag and Send time is required. HTML isn’t allowed in text fields.

Audience types in detail

Audiences are resolved when the campaign runs, not when you create it. A scheduled campaign targeting a segment awards whoever is in that segment at send time. Customers excluded from the loyalty program are never awarded.

Points expiry

Expiry is optional but powerful. Points from a one-time campaign are a gift, so customers feel less urgency to use them and they can sit unused for months. A short expiry (for example 30 days) turns the gift into a “use it or lose it” moment, which drives the redemption and next order you’re after. The campaign summary shows Points do not expire (lifetime) when expiry is off.

Preview before you run

Preview audience shows:
  1. Customers — how many customers match right now.
  2. Total points — customers × Points amount.
Use it as often as you like. Nothing is written until you save.

Tracking the campaign

Open a campaign from the list (click View) to see three tabs.

Configuration

  • Progress — a progress bar with Recipients, Processed, Awarded and Failed counts.
  • Status — Scheduled, Running, Completed, Completed with errors, Cancelling, Cancelled or Failed.
  • Banners for the current state:
    • Campaign in progress — points are being awarded; the page refreshes every 5 seconds.
    • Completed with errors — some customers couldn’t be awarded; see the Participants tab.
    • No customers matched — the audience matched 0 customers, so no points were awarded.
    • Campaign failed — the run stopped with an error. Contact support if this happens.
  • Status toggle (side panel) — while a campaign is scheduled or running, you can disable it. A disabled campaign is skipped by the scheduler until you enable it again.
  • Identifier — the campaign’s unique ID, with a Copy button (see below).
You can edit a campaign’s settings only while it’s Scheduled.

Participants

The per-customer log: customer, points, status and when they were processed.
  • Search by name or email, and filter by status: Awarded, Skipped, Failed or Pending.
  • Customers are Skipped (not failed) when, for example, they’re excluded from the loyalty program or no longer exist in Yuko.
  • Once the campaign is Completed or Completed with errors, click Export to download a CSV with these columns: customer_name, email, phone, platform_customer_id, point_balance, points_awarded, status, expiry_date and redemption_link.
The redemption_link column holds a personal, signed link parameter for each customer (it starts with ?customer_uuid=). Add it to the end of your store URL in an SMS, WhatsApp or email send, and Yuko recognises the customer when they land on your store so they can redeem their points straight away.

Conversions

Shows orders placed using coupons that were redeemed with points awarded by this campaign:
  • Revenue, Orders, Customers and Points redeemed totals.
  • A table of each order with the customer, order number and discount code, points used, order total and date.
The campaign list also shows Orders and Revenue for each campaign at a glance.

Workflow events and identifiers

Tick Trigger workflow events to fire the One-time Campaign Points Awarded workflow trigger for every customer who receives points. Build a workflow on that trigger to send a WhatsApp or email message the moment the points land. The event carries the campaign name, the points awarded, their expiry date and the customer’s details, so your messages can include them. To send different messages for different campaigns, add a condition to the workflow:
  • Campaign Identifier — matches the campaign’s Identifier. Copy it from the campaign’s Configuration tab.
  • Campaign Name — matches the campaign’s name.
See Triggers and conditions for how conditions work.

Cancelling a campaign

Click Cancel campaign on a Scheduled or Running campaign.
  • A scheduled campaign is cancelled before it awards anyone.
  • A running campaign stops processing. Customers already awarded keep their points.
Once a campaign is Completed, Completed with errors, Cancelled or Failed, it’s final and can’t be resumed.

Use cases

Seven ways teams use one-time campaigns. Each pairs naturally with a message; see How to promote it.

1. Program launch: seed everyone with a starter balance

The problem: you just switched Yuko on. Every balance is 0, so there’s nothing to redeem and no reason to visit the loyalty page. The play: run a one-time campaign to All Customers for a modest starter amount (100–300 pts) with a 30–60 day expiry. Announce it with an email such as “There’s already $5 waiting on your account.”

2. VIP win-back: a targeted award for dormant high-value customers

The problem: customers who spent more than $500 last year haven’t ordered in 90+ days. A discount would work, but it teaches them to wait for discounts. The play: build a Shopify segment for lifetime_spend > 500 AND days_since_last_order > 90. Run a one-time campaign to that segment with 500–1,000 pts and a 21-day expiry. Announce it personally: “It’s been a while, so we’ve added 500 points to your account.” The short expiry does the heavy lifting.

3. Apology or service recovery

The problem: something went wrong (a shipping delay, a defective batch, an outage) and you want to make it right for every affected customer without creating coupons by hand. The play: tag the affected customers in Shopify (for example delay-oct-2026) and run a one-time campaign with Customer Tags. Use a proportional amount (for example 500 pts for a delay, 1,000 pts for a defective product) and turn on Trigger workflow events so a workflow sends the apology the moment the points land.

4. BFCM or holiday bonus for everyone

The problem: on Black Friday morning, every inbox is full of “50% off” subject lines. You need to stand out without matching a discount you can’t afford. The play: schedule a one-time campaign to All Customers for 8:00 AM on Black Friday. Award 200 pts with a 3-day expiry. The message says “200 loyalty points added to your account. Redeem by Sunday.” There’s no code to remember, so redeeming is one click.

5. Cohort anniversary

The problem: you want to reward a group, such as customers who joined in March 2025, on the anniversary of joining. This isn’t a personal birthday (use the Birthday Way to Earn for that). The play: tag the cohort in Shopify or build a segment on the sign-up date range, then schedule a one-time campaign on the anniversary. 150–250 pts, 30-day expiry, with a message like “It’s been a year since you joined us.”

6. Contest or campaign winners

The problem: you ran a UGC contest, a referral push or an ambassador drive with a defined winner list. Crediting each winner by hand is slow and error-prone. The play: tag the winners in Shopify (contest_winner_nov2026) and run a one-time campaign to that tag with Customer Tags for the prize value (2,000–5,000 pts).

7. Migration bonus after switching loyalty platforms

The problem: you moved to Yuko from another loyalty platform. Even if you migrated balances, customers may not feel the continuity. The play: run a one-time campaign to All Customers for a symbolic bonus (100–250 pts) with a clear message: “We’ve moved your account to a new loyalty program. Here’s a welcome bonus for staying with us.” Combine it with Backfill Points if you also want to award points for customers’ past orders.

How to promote it

A one-time campaign quietly adds points to a customer’s balance, but the customer only knows if you tell them. Every use case above works better with a message sent at the same time.

Workflows

Tick Trigger workflow events and send a WhatsApp or email message from a workflow the moment each customer is awarded.

Klaviyo

Use the synced points balance on Klaviyo profiles to send an email that shows each customer their new balance.

WhatsApp

Reach customers where email won’t cut through: apologies, VIP win-backs, BFCM.

Loyalty Nudges

Show the fresh balance on your storefront the next time the customer visits.

Sequencing a launch

For a 200-point award to all customers on BFCM morning:
  1. 2 days before. Create the campaign, schedule it for 8:00 AM on BFCM, tick Trigger workflow events and preview the audience.
  2. Send time. Yuko awards the points and fires One-time Campaign Points Awarded for each customer.
  3. Minutes later. Your workflow (filtered by Campaign Identifier) sends “You now have new points. Redeem by Sunday.”
  4. Same day. Loyalty Nudges on the storefront show the fresh balance when customers visit.
  5. After it runs. Watch the Conversions tab for orders, revenue and points redeemed.
  6. 3 days later. The points expire. Optionally send a last-call reminder to customers who haven’t redeemed.

Limitations

  • One award per customer per campaign. Create a new campaign to award the same customers again.
  • Edits only while Scheduled. Once a campaign is running, you can only cancel it.
  • Audiences are resolved at send time. Anyone in the segment or with the tag at that moment is awarded.
  • Flat points only. Every matched customer gets the same Points amount.
  • Expiry is a duration, not a fixed calendar date.

FAQs

Boosters change the earning rules over a period, for example “2× points on all orders this weekend”. One-time campaigns don’t touch the rules; they award a fixed amount of points to a fixed audience once.
Yes. Create a new campaign. Each campaign awards a customer only once, but nothing stops you running campaign A on Monday and campaign B to the same audience on Friday.
They’re awarded once. Customer Tags matches customers with ANY selected tag, and each customer is awarded once per campaign.
Yes, while it’s Scheduled or Running. Cancelling a running campaign stops further awards; customers already awarded keep their points. You can also disable a scheduled campaign with the Status toggle and enable it again later.
Expiry is a duration (days, weeks or months after the award). For a fixed date, schedule the campaign so the duration ends on the day you want.
Customers are skipped when they’re excluded from the loyalty program or no longer exist in Yuko. Skipped customers don’t make the campaign fail.
Open the Conversions tab. It shows revenue, orders, customers and points redeemed for orders that used coupons redeemed with this campaign’s points.
Use Backfill Points. It’s a related, separate flow for past orders.
No fixed cap. Large campaigns are processed in the background and the progress bar updates as they run. Very large audiences can take a few minutes.
