Where to find this: Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Widgets → Cart Redeem
Introduction
The Cart Redeem widget is the central redemption surface on your storefront. It shows the customer’s balance, rewards they’ve already earned, rewards they can claim, and (optionally) their VIP tier progress — with a one-click apply flow at the cart. What problem this solves
Customers regularly forget they have points or rewards. A redemption widget at the cart removes the friction: they see what they have, what they can use right now, and they can apply it without leaving the page.Where it appears
- Cart page and cart drawer (theme-dependent).
When to use
- You want to drive redemption rate.
- You want a visible loyalty hub at the moment of purchase decision.
- You want to highlight VIP benefits without a separate page.
Overview
- Displays the customer’s points balance.
- Lists active rewards the customer has earned.
- Lists redeemable rewards (Ways to Redeem) the customer can claim.
- Optional VIP status section with tier progress.
- Separate logged-in and logged-out copy.
- Fully customisable messages, button labels and icons.
Before you start
Yuko app is installed on your Shopify store.
Your loyalty program is enabled.
The widget is set to Active in Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Widgets.
Your active Shopify theme supports Online Store 2.0 app blocks.
You’ve configured at least one Way to Redeem.
Setup guide
1. Configure in Yuko
Configure the logged-in state
- Point balance message — default: “You have:
[point_balance][points_label]” - Reward button text — e.g., “Redeem rewards”
Configure the logged-out state
- Toggle Hide widget for logged-out users if you prefer.
- Login prompt — default: “Log in to redeem your
[points_label]for rewards.” - Log in button text — e.g., “Log in”
Configure the redemption view
Customise:
- Heading — “Redeem rewards”
- Existing rewards title — “Your rewards”
- Ways to redeem title — “Available rewards”
- Redeem button text — “Redeem”
- Apply button text — “Apply code”
- Reward expiry message — “Reward expires on
[discount_expiry_date]”
Configure VIP status (optional)
Show the customer’s tier and next-tier progress:
- VIP status title — e.g., “VIP Status”
- Next tier message — “Next tier:
[next_tier]” - Max tier message — “You’ve reached the top tier!”
2. Add the widget to your theme
Open the Theme Editor
In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes, find your active theme, and click Customize.
Pick the right template
Use the template selector at the top to open the page where this widget should appear (Product, Cart, etc.).
Add the Yuko app block
Click Add block in the section where you want the widget. Under Apps, select the Yuko block listed for this widget.
3. Verify
Test logged-out state
Open the cart in a private window. Confirm the login prompt renders (or the widget is hidden, per your config).
Available placeholders
| Placeholder | Replaced with |
|---|---|
[points_value] | The numeric points value (per product, per cart or per order, depending on widget). |
[points_label] | Your configured points label (e.g., Points, Stars, Coins). |
[point_balance] | The customer’s current points balance. |
[discount_expiry_date] | The date a redeemed reward expires. |
[next_tier] | Name of the customer’s next VIP tier. |
[tier_entry_amount] | Spend or points threshold to reach the next tier. |
[multiplier_value] | Points multiplier applied at the customer’s current tier. |
How it works
- The widget loads the customer’s points balance and reward state from Yuko.
- For logged-out customers, it shows the login prompt (or hides itself).
- For logged-in customers, it shows balance, earned rewards, and claimable rewards.
- Clicking Redeem issues a Shopify discount code unique to the customer.
- Clicking Apply code copies the code (or auto-applies it) to the cart.
- The discount is then visible at checkout.
Decision guidance
- Always show the VIP section if you have tiers — it drives upgrade behaviour.
- Use the logged-out login prompt rather than hiding the widget — it’s a clean acquisition CTA.
- Place near the checkout button for the best conversion-to-redemption ratio.
Limitations
- Auto-apply behaviour depends on theme support; on some themes the customer needs to manually paste the code.
- VIP section requires VIP tiers to be enabled.
- Cart drawer rendering is theme-dependent.
Examples
- Premium beauty brand: Cart Redeem at the bottom of the cart drawer, with the VIP section visible. Average redemption rate up 38% within 30 days of launch.
- DTC apparel: Cart Redeem near the checkout button, login prompt enabled — doubles as a sign-up nudge.
