Where to find this: Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Integrations → Shopify POS
Introduction
The Shopify POS integration brings your loyalty program into your physical store. Once it’s on, a Yuko tile appears on the Shopify POS smart grid. When staff add a customer to the cart, the tile shows that customer’s loyalty status. Tapping it opens a loyalty screen where staff can redeem points for a discount, or apply a loyalty discount the customer already has. Redemptions at the till use two POS-only reward types: POS Amount Discount and POS Percentage Discount. When to use it
- You sell in person with Shopify POS as well as online.
- You want in-store customers to spend their points without going through the online store.
- You want staff to see a customer’s points balance and available discounts at checkout.
Before you start
Your store runs on Shopify and uses Shopify POS.
Your loyalty program is enabled in Yuko.
Staff who use the tile sign in to POS with an account that has access to the Yuko app.
Shopify POS is available on select plans.
Set up Shopify POS
1
Turn on the integration
Go to Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Integrations → Shopify POS and switch on the Shopify POS Integration toggle. The status badge changes from Disabled to Enabled.
2
Create POS rewards
Go to Loyalty → Programs → Ways to redeem → Add another way and add a POS Amount Discount or POS Percentage Discount reward. Only these two reward types can be redeemed at the till.
3
Customise the POS text (optional)
Back on the Shopify POS integration page, edit the tile and screen text in the editor below the toggle, then click Save in the save bar. See Customise the POS text.
4
Add the Yuko tile to the POS home screen
In the Shopify POS app, edit the smart grid on the home screen and add the Yuko tile.
How it works at the till
The smart grid tile
The tile title defaults to Loyalty Program. Its subtitle changes with the customer on the cart:
When the customer has unused loyalty discounts, the tile also shows a count badge.
The loyalty screen
Tapping the tile opens the loyalty screen. It shows the customer’s points balance and a Redeem points button, plus two tabs:- How it works: up to six steps that explain the program, so staff can introduce it to customers.
- Loyalty discounts: discount codes the customer already holds from POS rewards. Staff tap Apply to add one to the cart.
Redeeming points for a new discount
- Staff tap Redeem points. The Redeem new discount page lists Available rewards: every active POS reward.
- Staff tap Redeem on a reward the customer can afford. For rewards where the customer chooses how many points to spend, staff pick the amount within the reward’s range and step.
- A confirmation popup appears. After staff confirm with Apply reward, Yuko deducts the points, creates a discount code and applies it to the cart.
Applying an existing loyalty discount
In the Loyalty discounts tab, staff tap Apply next to a code, then confirm with Apply to cart. The code is marked Applied once it’s in the cart.Status banners
A banner under the customer tells staff what to do next:- No customer on the cart: “Add customer to earn loyalty points.”
- Customer has never earned points: “Customer has never earned loyalty points. Ask them about the loyalty program.”
- Cart has no products: “Add a product to the cart to apply discount.”
Customise the POS text
While the integration is enabled, the Shopify POS page shows a text editor with a live preview. It has four tabs:
Every field needs a value; each starts with Yuko’s default text.
Placeholders
Disable Shopify POS
Switch off the Shopify POS Integration toggle and confirm Disable in the Disable Shopify POS dialog. Loyalty features stop working in POS straight away; the tile shows “Program unavailable”. Your POS rewards and the text you saved are kept.Limitations
- Shopify only. The integration and its rewards are not available on other platforms.
- POS rewards only. Online rewards (amount discount, free shipping, store credit and so on) can’t be redeemed at the till, and POS rewards can’t be redeemed online.
- A customer must be on the cart. Staff can browse the reward list without a customer, but can’t redeem or apply anything.
- Discount combinations follow Shopify’s rules. If the cart already has a discount, the loyalty discount may not apply.
- Staff permissions. Staff signed in without access to the Yuko app see “Missing app permissions / please sign in with an account that has app access”.
- Online connection needed. When POS is offline, the tile shows “Offline - reconnect to redeem”.
