Introduction

Give new customers a small points bonus the moment they create an account. It transforms a low-commitment action (typing an email) into the start of a loyalty relationship.

What problem this solves

Guest checkout is convenient, but it leaves you no way to remarket and no loyalty hook. The Sign Up campaign incentivises account creation by giving customers something they can spend on their first or next order.

When to use

  • You want to grow your registered customer base.
  • You’re trying to push guest checkouts toward account creation.
  • You want a friendly first-touch with the loyalty program.

Overview

  • One-time reward per customer.
  • Optional points expiry to nudge first redemption.
  • Works with Shopify’s standard customer creation event.

Before you start

Yuko app is installed on your Shopify store — see Install Yuko on Shopify.
The Yuko Theme App Embed is enabled in your active theme.
Your loyalty program is enabled at Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Settings.
Points label and currency are configured.

Setup guide

1

Open the campaign

In your Shopify admin, go to Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Ways to Earn → Sign Up.
2

Set basic details

Enter a campaign name and short description.
3

Set the points value

Enter the points to award (e.g., 100).
4

Configure expiry (optional)

Set an expiry to push first-time redemption (e.g., 30 days).
5

Save & activate

Toggle Active and click Save.

How it works

  • Yuko listens for Shopify’s customers/create webhook.
  • The bonus is credited once per customer; subsequent re-creates do not award additional points.
  • If the customer was created via a referral, the referral campaign also fires — the two stack.

Decision guidance

  • Pair with an expiry to drive the first redemption while interest is high.
  • Calibrate the bonus so it covers a meaningful fraction of an entry-level reward (e.g., 50% of the cheapest reward).

Limitations

  • Customers created via the Yuko admin or imported via CSV do not trigger this campaign.
  • One-time per customer.

Examples

  • A skincare brand awards 200 points on signup, expiring in 30 days, where 500 points = $5 off.
  • A B2C wellness store awards 100 points on signup with no expiry to keep the program friction-low.

Best practices

Mention the bonus on your signup form. Customers don’t take an action they don’t know exists.
Tie it to email opt-in by combining with a Subscribe to Newsletter campaign for double the impact.

FAQs

Yuko keys the bonus to the original Shopify customer ID. Re-signups do not re-earn.
Only if Shopify creates a customer record for them. Configure guest checkouts to auto-create accounts in Shopify customer settings.
