Introduction

Reward customers each year on the anniversary of joining your store. It’s a powerful loyalty signal: you’re remembering them, and you’re paying for the relationship.

What problem this solves

Most stores never thank customers for sticking around. Anniversary points create a structural moment of appreciation tied to a date the customer doesn’t even remember setting.

When to use

  • You have customers who’ve been around for at least a year.
  • You want a recurring engagement moment that doesn’t depend on collecting birthdays.
  • You want to reward long-term loyalty without standing up VIP tiers.

Overview

  • Yearly bonus on the customer’s signup anniversary.
  • Based on the Shopify customer’s created_at date.
  • Optional points expiry.

Before you start

Yuko app is installed on your Shopify store — see Install Yuko on Shopify.
The Yuko Theme App Embed is enabled in your active theme.
Your loyalty program is enabled at Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Settings.
Points label and currency are configured.

Setup guide

Open the campaign

In your Shopify admin, go to Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Ways to Earn → Anniversary.

Set details and points

Enter a campaign name, description and points value (e.g., 150).

Set expiry (optional)

A 30–60 day expiry creates a redemption window.

Save & activate

Toggle Active and click Save.

How it works

  • Yuko checks each customer’s created_at date daily.
  • If today’s month + day matches the customer’s signup, points are credited.
  • A points-earned email can be sent if enabled.

Decision guidance

  • Pair with VIP — a tier-based multiplier on the anniversary bonus is a strong signal of preferred status.
  • Combine with an email acknowledging the milestone (“3 years with us!”).

Limitations

  • Imported customers without a created_at value (rare) won’t trigger the campaign.
  • Year is matched on month + day only; leap-day signups are awarded on Feb 28 in non-leap years.

Examples

  • An apparel brand awards 200 anniversary points with a 60-day expiry, paired with a “Thank you for sticking with us” email.

Send a thank-you email alongside. The bonus is the carrot; the email is the moment.
