Introduction

Award customers a one-time points bonus when they share a link to your store or a product on Facebook from your loyalty widgets.

What problem this solves

Word of mouth is a high-converting acquisition channel and hard to create on demand. A points reward gives customers a nudge to share.

  • You have a page worth sharing, such as your homepage, a launch or a bestseller.

Before you start

Yuko app is installed on your Shopify store — see Install Yuko on Shopify.
The Yuko Theme App Embed is enabled in your active theme — see Theme App Embed.
Your loyalty program is enabled under Loyalty Program Status at Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Programs.
Your point labels are set in Loyalty Settings.

Setup guide

Add the way to earn

In your Shopify admin, go to Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Programs. In Ways to earn, click Add another way and pick Facebook Share.

Fill in Basic Details

  • Campaign Name — shown to customers on the storefront. You can use [earn_value] and [points_label], for example Earn [earn_value] [points_label].
  • Description — short copy shown with the way to earn.

Set the points

Enter Points to earn on Facebook share (a whole number, at least 1).

Add the Share URL

Enter the complete Share URL customers will share, for example https://yourwebsite.com/product. It must be a valid URL.

Set Expiry (optional)

Turn on Expiry, then set Expire after and a Period (Day, Week, Month or Year). Expiry is available on select plans.

Review the side panel

  • Status — on by default.
  • Icon — Default, or Custom to upload your own (JPG, PNG, GIF or WEBP, under 1 MB).
  • Tiers — turn on to apply VIP tier multipliers to this way to earn.

Save

Click Save.

How it works

  1. The way to earn appears in the Ways to earn list of your loyalty widgets (for example the Floating Rewards launcher, rewards landing page and customer account page) with a Share button.
  2. A logged-in customer clicks Share. Facebook’s share dialog opens with your Share URL.
  3. Yuko credits the points as soon as the customer clicks. Social networks don’t let apps confirm the action, so earning is based on the click.
  4. The way to earn then shows as completed for that customer.
With Tiers on and VIP tiers enabled, customers in a tier earn the tier’s multiplier for this way to earn, plus any bonus points the tier sets for it. The extra points appear as a separate tier bonus entry.

Decision guidance

  • Share a page worth sharing. A launch page or bestseller gets more clicks from friends than a generic homepage.
  • Keep the reward modest. It’s a quick one-time action.

Limitations

  • Earning is based on the click; Facebook doesn’t let apps confirm that a post was published.
  • One reward per customer. Sharing again doesn’t earn more.
  • Customers must be logged in to earn.
  • You can have one Facebook Share way to earn, with one Share URL.
