Overview
The core mechanic: orders earn points at a higher rate (2X, 3X, etc.) during a window you control. The customer pays the same price; they just earn more points on the same order. Why you need it?
When sales are flat, the default reflex is to discount. Discounting trains customers to wait for the next promotion, eats into margin, and slowly degrades the perceived value of your products. A points multiplier creates the same urgency without cutting price. The customer sees an obvious reason to buy now, your margin holds, and your loyal customers feel rewarded rather than manipulated into a sale. When to use it?
- You want to drive a near-term lift in revenue without discounting.
- You’re entering a slow week and need a lever that doesn’t condition customers to expect markdowns.
- You’re running an alternative to a competitor’s discount campaign during a high-stakes period.
- You want to give your VIP tier or new members an always-on earning advantage.
- You’re launching a new collection and want the spotlight on that product range.
How to configure it?
Open Booster Campaigns
Go to Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Booster Campaigns and click New booster.
Configure the multiplier
- Earning action — which Way to Earn this boost applies to (typically Place an Order).
- Multiplier value — between 1.1× and 10×. Most stores use 2×–3×.
- Collection multiplier (optional) — apply an additional multiplier when the order contains products from a specific collection. The two multipliers compound (e.g., 2× store-wide × 1.5× collection = 3× on that collection).
Set the schedule
Choose one of:
- One-time window — start date and end date.
- Recurring — every weekend / first week of every month / last Friday of every month / etc.
- Always-on — runs continuously for a defined cohort (typically used with targeting like VIP tier or new members).
Configure targeting (optional)
Limit who qualifies: VIP tier, customer tag, lifetime spend threshold, membership status. Leave blank to apply to every loyalty customer.
Set product scope (optional)
Restrict the boost to specific products or collections. For collection-launch campaigns, this is essential.
Set stacking behaviour
By default the multiplier stacks with VIP tier multipliers and other active boosters. Toggle Exclusive if you want this campaign to be the only multiplier during its window.
Use cases / Examples
One-time uses
1. Slow week rescue Monday morning, numbers are flat, you flip on a 3-day 2X event instead of reaching for a discount code. Orders lift, margin holds. 2. BFCM alternative Instead of joining the discount race in November, run a 3X points event. Same urgency, no price cut, and your loyal customers feel rewarded rather than manipulated. 3. New collection launch Run 2X on just that collection for launch week. Drives traffic to the new range without touching the price tag. 4. Store anniversary or milestone A natural reason to run a celebration event. Feels earned, not manufactured. 5. Post-Q4 January reactivation January is dead for most stores. A 2X event gives lapsed customers a real reason to come back without conditioning them to wait for sales.Recurring uses
6. Payday multiplier 2X points every last Friday of the month. Customers who know it start planning purchases around it. Builds a habit loop you own. 7. Weekend warrior 2X every Saturday and Sunday. Shopify traffic peaks on weekends. Reward the buyers who show up then. 8. First week of the month Recurring multiplier that becomes something your best customers look forward to and talk about.Always-on uses
9. VIP tier accelerator Members at your top tier always earn 2X or 3X. Points program stops being a participation trophy and becomes a real reason to climb the ladder. 10. New member first 30 days Always-on 2X for the first month of membership. The first 30 days determine whether a customer comes back. Make those points feel real and worth chasing. How to promote it
Creating the booster is half the job. The other half is making sure customers actually know it exists. A well-designed multiplier campaign that no one hears about quietly misses most of the audience it was built for.Storefront — start with Loyalty Nudges
The Loyalty Nudges widget is the highest-leverage on-site promotion surface for boosters. It’s a pinned strip on every storefront page that opens a drawer showing the customer’s active campaigns automatically — no per-page setup. Enable it once and your multiplier shows up for every visitor and member. The Floating Launcher and Cart Redeem widget also surface active boosters. A homepage banner with the multiplier and dates adds extra reinforcement.Email — your primary outbound lever
Pair the multiplier with an email announcement through your ESP. Klaviyo is the strongest pairing because Yuko pushes loyalty data into Klaviyo automatically (see Klaviyo integration) — every customer profile hasyuko_points_balance and yuko_vip_tier, so you can segment by activity and personalise the email without extra work.
- Subject line: lead with the multiplier and the urgency. “3X points — this weekend only” outperforms “This weekend’s promotion”.
- Body: state the multiplier value, the exact dates, and what to buy. If the booster is collection-scoped, feature 2–3 products from the collection.
- Send to: all opted-in customers, or the targeted cohort if the booster has targeting (e.g., Diamond-tier customers only when you’ve tier-targeted).
WhatsApp — for last-call urgency
If you’ve connected a WhatsApp provider (AiSensy, Zoko, WATI, etc.), reserve WhatsApp for the last 24 hours of the campaign. WhatsApp has ≈98% open rates — spend it where it matters most, not on the launch announcement. Example: “Last 24 hours of 2X points. Don’t miss it: [link]”Reminder cadence
For a 7-day window:- Day 0 (launch) — enable Loyalty Nudges + full email blast.
- Day 3 (mid-window) — short reminder email focused on customers who haven’t bought yet.
- Day 6 (last 24 hours) — WhatsApp last-call to opt-ins; email “ends tonight” to non-buyers.
