Introduction

Let customers spend points for a percentage discount on their order (e.g., 1000 points = 10% off). Best when you want bigger orders to feel rewarded proportionally.

What problem this solves

Flat-amount discounts under-reward big spenders. A percentage discount scales with cart value, so a customer placing a 300orderwith10300 order with `10% off` gets a meaningfully bigger reward than one redeeming on a 40 order.

When to use

  • You sell high-AOV products where 10–20% is meaningful.
  • You want the redemption value to scale with order size.
  • You want to drive larger basket sizes by making redemption more attractive on big orders.

Overview

  • Percentage off the order subtotal.
  • Optional maximum cap to prevent overly generous discounts on huge orders.
  • Optional minimum purchase amount.
  • Optional combinability and expiry.

How it works

  1. Customer redeems the reward.
  2. Yuko deducts points and issues a Shopify percentage discount code.
  3. The percentage applies to the cart subtotal at checkout.
  4. If a cap is set, the discount is capped at the cap value.

Decision guidance

  • Set a maximum cap for any percentage above 5%. Without it, a 2,000ordercanproducea2,000 order can produce a 400 discount you didn’t intend.
  • Restrict to non-sale collections if you’re worried about stacking with promos.

Limitations

  • Percentage discounts can stack with sale prices unexpectedly. Use combinability + product exclusions deliberately.
  • The discount is issued as a Shopify discount code; same one-code-per-order rule applies unless combinability is enabled.

Examples

  • High-AOV electronics: 1000 pts = 10% off, max 50cap,50 cap, 100 minimum order.
  • Apparel store: 2000 pts = 15% off, no cap, 30-day expiry, excludes sale collection.

Best practices

Always set a max cap for percentages above 5%. Otherwise edge cases will surprise you.
Disable combinability with sale promos unless you’ve explicitly modelled the impact.
