Introduction
Let customers spend points on a specific product at no cost. It’s useful for moving inventory, promoting a new launch, or giving loyal customers a tangible perk. Free Product is available on select plans.What problem this solves
A free product feels more generous than a discount of the same value. It also puts a specific item in customers’ hands: a launch sample, a slow-moving product or a brand essential.When to use

- You want to move slow-moving inventory through the loyalty program.
Overview
- One product per reward. Create more Free Product rewards to offer more products.
- The reward is a discount code worth the selected product’s price, applied to that product.
- Optional Coupon Prefix.
- Optional minimum purchase amount or minimum quantity of items.
- Optional combinations with other discounts and an optional expiry.
Before you start
Yuko app is installed on your Shopify store — see Install Yuko on Shopify.
The Yuko Theme App Embed is enabled in your active theme — see Theme App Embed.
Your loyalty program is enabled under Loyalty Program Status at Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Programs.
Your point labels are set in Loyalty Settings.
The product you want to give away is published and in stock.
Setup guide

Add the reward
In your Shopify admin, go to Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Programs. In Ways to redeem, click Add another way and pick Free Product under Online Store.

Fill in Basic Details
Set the Reward Name (shortcodes
[points_required] and [points_label] are supported) and a Description.3
Pick the product
Under Product Selection, use Select Product to search for and choose the product. A product is required.

Complete the Reward Configuration
- Points Required — the points cost.
- Coupon Prefix — the start of every code (up to 8 characters, default
yuko).

Set Minimum Requirements (optional)
Choose No minimum requirements, Minimum purchase amount (Minimum Subtotal) or Minimum quantity of items (Minimum Quantity).

Choose combinations (optional)
Under Combine with other discounts, tick any of Product discount, Order discount and Free shipping.

Set Expiry (optional)
Turn on Expiry and set Expire after and a Period (Day, Week, Month or Year). Expiry is available on select plans.

Enable and save
Turn on Status in the side panel and click Save.
How it works
- The customer redeems the reward from a loyalty widget.
- Yuko deducts the points and creates a single-use Shopify discount code for that customer, worth the product’s current price and applied only to that product.
- When the customer applies the reward from the storefront widget, Yuko adds the product to the cart if it isn’t there already.
- At checkout, the code makes that product free. Any minimum requirement must be met.
Decision guidance
- Set a minimum purchase so the free product comes with a paid order.
- Pair it with a launch announcement so redeeming feels like a privilege.
Limitations
- One product per reward.
- Shopify can’t sell an out-of-stock product, so the customer can’t check out with it until it’s back in stock (unless you allow overselling).
Examples
- Sample drop: 800 pts for a trial-size product, Minimum Subtotal $50, expires after 30 days.
- Accessory add-on: 1,500 pts for a tote bag, Minimum quantity of items 2.

What happens if the product goes out of stock after redemption?
The code stays valid until it expires, but Shopify won’t let the customer buy an out-of-stock product. Restock it or help the customer directly.
