Where to find this: Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Ways to Redeem → Amount Discount

Introduction

Allow customers to spend points for a fixed-amount discount (e.g., 500 points = $5 off). This is the simplest, most predictable reward type and the one most customers expect to see first.

What problem this solves

Percentage discounts can feel abstract (“how much will 10% off be?”). A flat amount discount is concrete — customers know exactly what they’re getting before they redeem.

When to use

  • You want the simplest possible reward to get the program off the ground.
  • Your store has predictable basket sizes where a fixed amount maps cleanly to value.
  • You’re targeting low-AOV stores where percentage discounts compound badly.

Overview

  • Fixed dollar (or store-currency) discount.
  • Either a single tier (e.g., 500 pts = $5) or incremented points (multiple tiers in one reward).
  • Optional minimum purchase amount or quantity.
  • Optional combinability with other discounts.
  • Optional reward expiry.

Before you start

Yuko app is installed on your Shopify store — see Install Yuko on Shopify.
The Yuko Theme App Embed is enabled in your active theme.
Your loyalty program is enabled at Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Settings.
Points label and currency are configured.
You have at least one Way to Earn active so customers actually have points.

Setup guide

1

Open the reward

Login to your Shopify admin, then go to Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Ways to Redeem → Amount Discount.
2

Configure basic details

  • Reward name — customer-facing label (e.g., “$5 off”).
  • Description — short copy shown next to the reward.
3

Choose reward type

One tier. Customer pays N points for the same dollar discount every time.
Multiple tiers in one reward (e.g., 500/1000/2000 pts → 5/5/10/$25 off). Customers pick.
4

Set points required and discount amount

For each tier, enter the points cost and the discount value.
5

Configure additional settings (optional)

  • Minimum / maximum points to redeem in one transaction.
  • Minimum purchase amount or quantity (e.g., min cart of $25).
  • Combinability — whether this stacks with other Shopify discounts.
  • Reward expiry — how long after issue the discount code stays valid.
6

Save & activate

Toggle Active and click Save.

How it works

  1. The customer opens the Cart Redeem widget (or the Customer Account hub).
  2. They select this reward and click Redeem.
  3. Yuko deducts the points and issues a Shopify discount code unique to that customer.
  4. The customer applies the code at checkout (or it’s auto-applied via the Cart Redeem widget).
  5. On order completion, Yuko logs the redemption.

Decision guidance

  • Use fixed-amount tiers when starting out — simpler to communicate.
  • Switch to incremented points when customers ask for higher-value rewards.
  • Set a minimum purchase to keep the discount from being applied to a 1product(anda1 product (and a 0 cart).
  • Avoid combinability with sale promos unless you intentionally want stacking.

Limitations

  • The discount is issued as a Shopify discount code; some Shopify discount restrictions apply (e.g., one code per order if combinability is off).
  • Cannot exceed cart subtotal — capped at the cart amount automatically.

Examples

  • Starter program: 500 pts = $5 off, min cart $25, 30-day expiry.
  • Tiered program: 500 / 1000 / 2000 pts → $5 / $10 / $25, no min cart, 60-day expiry.

Best practices

Anchor your value clearly. “500 pts = $5” is the easiest mental model. Avoid awkward ratios.
Use a 30–60 day expiry on the issued code to drive prompt redemption.
Combining with site-wide percentage promos can cause stacking customers don’t expect. Test combinations before launch.
