Introduction

Show membership plans inside Shopify Checkout itself, via a Checkout UI extension. Customers can join the program at the moment of purchase.

What problem this solves

If a customer didn’t add the membership in cart, you’ve still got one more chance at checkout. The Checkout extension catches those last-second conversions.

Shopify Checkout (information / shipping / payment pages).

When to use

You’re on Shopify Plus or a plan with Checkout Extensibility.
You already run the Cart Membership Upsell and want a second touchpoint.

Renders inside Shopify Checkout via the Checkout UI extension.

Before you start

Yuko app is installed on your Shopify store.

Your loyalty program is enabled.

The widget is set to Active in Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Widgets.

Your active Shopify theme supports Online Store 2.0 app blocks.

Your Shopify plan supports Checkout Extensibility.

The Checkout UI extension has been activated — see Activate the Checkout UI Extension.

At least one membership plan is published.

Setup guide

1. Configure in Yuko

Open the widget settings

Go to Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Memberships → Widgets → Checkout Membership Upsell.

Customise copy

Set the heading and CTA.

Activate

Toggle the widget Active.

Open the Checkout Editor

In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Checkout → Customize.

Add the Yuko Checkout extension

In the editor, click Add app block in the section where you want the widget. Choose the relevant Yuko Checkout extension.

Position and save

Drag the block to its final position in the checkout and click Save.

Checkout UI extensions require Shopify Plus or a checkout-eligible plan. See Theme compatibility & requirements.

Place the widget near the order summary.

3. Verify

Proceed to a test checkout and confirm the upsell renders.

How it works

Shopify renders the Yuko Checkout Membership Upsell extension at checkout.
The extension fetches the most valuable plan to surface.
The customer can add the plan to the order with one click.

Decision guidance

Don’t double up — if you have the Cart Upsell, the Checkout Upsell is your last-chance fallback. Don’t make it pushy.

Limitations

Requires Checkout Extensibility (Shopify Plus / eligible plans).
Visual customisation is constrained by Shopify’s extension surface.
