# Ways to Redeem

> Configure the rewards customers can claim with their points — from amount discounts to free products and store credit.

<Note>
  **Where to find this:** Shopify admin → Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Ways to Redeem
</Note>

Ways to Redeem (also called **rewards**) are the items customers can spend their points on. Each reward type has its own configuration, conditions and customer-facing behaviour.

## How rewards work

1. A customer reaches the points threshold for an active reward.
2. The reward shows up for them in the Cart Redeem widget, the Customer Account hub, or the Rewards Landing Page.
3. The customer claims the reward — Yuko deducts points and issues a Shopify discount code or product addition.
4. The customer applies the reward at cart or checkout.
5. Yuko logs the redemption in the activity feed.

## Decision guidance

* **Start with one reward** — pick the simplest one (Amount Discount) and prove the loop works before adding variety.
* **Use Store Credit** if you want flexibility without the perceived discount-coupon vibe.
* **Use Free Product** to move specific inventory or surprise high-tier customers.
* **Use Free Shipping** in stores where shipping is a major cart-abandonment driver.

## Best practices

<Tip>**Make the cheapest reward attainable in 2–3 orders.** If it takes 10 orders to get anything, customers disengage.</Tip>
<Tip>**Keep the reward menu short.** 3–4 well-priced rewards beat 12 mediocre ones.</Tip>
<Tip>**Test redemption end-to-end** as a real customer before launching — broken redemptions damage trust faster than missing rewards.</Tip>
