# Visit URL

> Reward customers with points for opening a link you choose, such as your YouTube channel, blog or community page.

## Introduction

Award customers points for opening a link you want to promote, like your YouTube channel, blog, podcast or community page. You choose how often a customer can earn: once, daily, weekly or monthly.

## What problem this solves

Your social channels and content need traffic, but customers rarely go looking for them. A points reward in your loyalty widget sends them there.

## When to use

* You want to drive traffic to a channel that isn't covered by the follow and share ways to earn (for example YouTube or a community forum).
* You publish regular content and want customers to keep coming back to it.
* You want to promote one link at a time.

## Overview

* Configured with one **URL**.
* **Frequency**: Once, Daily, Weekly or Monthly.
* Points are credited when the customer clicks **Visit**.
* Optional points expiry and VIP tier multipliers.
* Available on select plans.

## Before you start

## Setup guide

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add the way to earn">
    In your Shopify admin, go to **Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Programs**. In **Ways to earn**, click **Add another way** and pick **Visit URL**.

  <Step title="Fill in Basic Details">
    * **Campaign Name** — shown to customers on the storefront. You can use `[earn_value]` and `[points_label]`, for example `Earn [earn_value] [points_label]`.
    * **Description** — short copy shown with the way to earn.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the points">
    Enter **Points to earn for visiting the URL** (a whole number, at least 1).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the URL and Frequency">
    * **URL** — the link customers open to earn points, for example `https://www.youtube.com/@yourchannel`. It must start with `http://` or `https://`.
    * **Frequency** — how often each customer can earn from this URL: **Once** (the default), **Daily**, **Weekly** or **Monthly**.

  <Step title="Set Expiry (optional)">
    Turn on **Expiry**, then set **Expire after** and a **Period** (Day, Week, Month or Year). Expiry is available on select plans.

  <Step title="Review the side panel">
    * **Status** — on by default.
    * **Icon** — **Default**, or **Custom** to upload your own (JPG, PNG, GIF or WEBP, under 1 MB).
    * **Tiers** — turn on to apply VIP tier multipliers to this way to earn.

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save**.

## How it works

1. The way to earn appears in the **Ways to earn** list of your loyalty widgets (for example the [Floating Rewards](/onsite-widgets/floating-launcher) launcher, [rewards landing page](/onsite-widgets/rewards-landing-page) and [customer account page](/onsite-widgets/customer-account-page)) with a **Visit** button.
2. A logged-in customer clicks **Visit**. Your URL opens in a new tab.
3. Yuko credits the points as soon as the customer clicks. Yuko can't see what happens on the other site, so earning is based on the click.
4. The way to earn then shows as completed for that customer until they can earn again.
5. With a Daily, Weekly or Monthly frequency, the customer can earn again in the next day, week (weeks start on Monday) or calendar month. Periods follow UTC.

With **Tiers** on and [VIP tiers](/vip-tiers/overview) enabled, customers in a tier earn the tier's multiplier for this way to earn, plus any bonus points the tier sets for it. The extra points appear as a separate tier bonus entry.

### Decision guidance

* **Use Once** for a one-off push, like a new channel launch.
* **Use Weekly or Monthly** for content you update regularly, like a newsletter archive or video series.
* **Keep the reward small** if you allow repeat earning.

### Limitations

* **Only one Visit URL way to earn per store**, so you can promote one link at a time. To promote a different link, edit the URL.
* Earning is based on the click; Yuko can't check how long the customer stayed.
* Customers must be logged in to earn.

## Examples

* A cooking brand awards 10 points once for visiting its YouTube channel.
* A wellness store awards 5 points weekly for opening its blog, to build a reading habit.

## Best practices

<Tip>**Promote your newest content.** Swap the URL when you publish something you want customers to see.</Tip>

## FAQs

    No. A store can have one Visit URL way to earn with one link. Edit the URL to promote something else.

    It depends on **Frequency**: never again for Once, the next day for Daily, the next week (Monday start) for Weekly, and the next calendar month for Monthly.
