# Booster Campaigns

> Time-limited or targeted loyalty promotions that layer on top of your standard Ways to Earn — drive urgency without touching your prices.

## Overview

Booster campaigns are loyalty promotions that layer on top of your standard **Ways to Earn**. Where a Way to Earn is *always on* and quietly rewards every qualifying action, a booster is a *campaign* — time-windowed, targeted, and designed to move a specific metric over a specific period.

Where a discount cuts price, a booster increases the points reward. The customer pays the same; they earn more.

## Why you need them?

Loyalty programs work in the background. They reward customers reliably, but they rarely create urgency. When you need to drive a near-term result — a slow week, a launch, a winback push — the only lever most stores reach for is a discount.

Discounts work, but they train customers to wait. Run enough of them and your customers learn to never buy at full price.

Boosters give you the same urgency-and-results lever as a discount — without touching your margin or training customers to wait. They're the loyalty-native answer to *“we need to drive sales this week.”*

## When to use them?

* You need a near-term lift in revenue without discounting.
* You're launching a new product or collection and want focused earning on it.
* You're running a campaign during a high-stakes period (BFCM, holidays, anniversaries).
* You want to give your VIP tier or new members a permanent earning advantage.
* You want to automatically catch returning customers or first-time buyers with a meaningful welcome bonus.

## How boosters work

Every booster campaign has the same four ingredients:

1. **A type** — multiplier, bonus flat, spending goal, order frequency, streak, multi-action challenge, dormant reactivation, or first purchase boost.
2. **A schedule** — a one-time window, a recurring pattern (weekly / monthly / quarterly), or always-on.
3. **Targeting (optional)** — which customers qualify, by VIP tier, customer tag, lifetime spend, or membership status.
4. **Product scope (optional)** — which products or collections it applies to.

When a qualifying action fires (e.g., an order is placed), Yuko checks every active booster campaign in order, applies the matching ones, and credits the customer with the bonus.

## When to use a booster vs. a Way to Earn

| You want to… | Use |
| -------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| Reward every qualifying action, always | **Way to Earn** |
| Drive a result over a specific window or for a specific cohort | **Booster Campaign** |
| Give VIP members a permanent earning advantage | **Booster Campaign** (always-on, tier-targeted) |
| Reward a customer's first order | **Booster Campaign** — First Purchase Boost |
| Recover customers when they return after being inactive | **Booster Campaign** — Dormant Reactivation |
| Drive AOV (basket size) | **Booster Campaign** — Spending Goal |
| Drive purchase frequency | **Booster Campaign** — Order Frequency or Streak |

## Stacking with VIP tiers and other campaigns

By default, booster campaigns stack with VIP tier multipliers and with each other. You can set a campaign to **exclusive** if you want it to be the only multiplier in effect during its window — useful for headline campaigns where you don't want VIP customers to compound to extreme multiplier values.

## Get started

1. Pick a booster type from the list above.
2. Open **Apps → Yuko Loyalty → Loyalty → Booster Campaigns** and click **New booster**.
3. Configure the schedule, targeting, and product scope.
4. Toggle **Active** and click **Save**.

The campaign begins crediting points the moment the window opens (or immediately, for always-on campaigns).

## Best practices

<Tip>**Start with one or two boosters.** A storefront with five overlapping boosters dilutes attention and confuses your earning math.</Tip>
<Tip>**Use a multiplier instead of a discount** the next time you'd reach for a percentage off. Same urgency, no margin hit.</Tip>
<Tip>**Reserve “always-on” boosters for cohorts** — VIP members, first-30-days customers, paid members. Always-on store-wide boosters become invisible.</Tip>
<Tip>**Test with a real customer record** before launching publicly. Booster math compounds in ways you don't always anticipate.</Tip>
